MEET THE MAIN CAST

Grach – Varient Human, Fighter | Rune Knight

Grach was born in what is known as Portside, the slums of Striden. He was born as the second son of a large family, and the eldest surviving son. His parents, Scips and Horta, had nine children. Seven of the children survived infancy. Grach’s father worked among the crews that set out from the docks of Striden and operated among the Southern Isles. At the age of 19, Grach took over the role of his father by providing income for his mother and sibling. Grach took work among the crews, just as his father had done before him. For five years Grach served among a reputed crew that operated along the Southern Isles. Six years after Grach set out from Striden, he returned to his home city and began to look for local work. He took a job as a guardsmen at Stridehall. Though lacking any magical abilities of his own, Grach holds a deep fascination with magic and magical items. During his time as a guardsman of Stridehall, Grach has often snuck into lectures and studies to expand his knowledge of magic and its principles. Through these learnings, and his apt studies, Grach has begun his journey as an apprentice runesman. He can always been observed with his heavy poleaxe. It is a common weapon for guardsmen, but what is not common is the series of ancient runes that Grach has carved into the blade and staff of his weapon. It is said that these runes can be dated back to an ancient time, when giants still roamed the world freely. Grach is primarily motivated by money. His outlook upon the world is highly mercenary. He is often willing to do most anything for a decent contract and does not consider morals as a major obstacle. The one principle that Grach does hold is his devout reverence for the common people. Though he does not often vocalize the fact, he considers all folks of simple means to be kinfolk of a sort.

Deemo – Gnome, Bard | College of Lore

Deemo, like many of the students at the University was born to a wealthy family that lived along the northern coast of Urok. As the youngest of three brothers, Deemo was often the trouble maker that was a pain in the ass for his two older brothers, Dante and Dalien. Despite his mischievous antics, he and his brothers were fairly close with the exception of the occasional fight to be expected to happen between brothers.

Deemo’s parents were of exceptional wealth, his father being a former viceroy of an Urok colony and his mother being the heiress to a silk plantation from a far away land. His parents like many other wealthy families of the land, believed that appearances were everything and tried to maintain some level of control over the lives of their sons. However, in Deemo they found a rebellious child who cared little for the appearances and protocol of a family of their standing. Deemo put up a fight whenever he had to put on his formal wear and would purposely dirty it up and play rough in it when forced to attend formal events. Another trait of Deemo was his ability to not care about class or status of others, much to his parents dismay. Deemo would often sneak out of the walled community of the upper levels of the city to play along the docks and seedier areas. It was during one of his “outings” to the docks when Deemo was 13 that he was introduced to the world of music. He was hanging out with his friends Karran and T’lyn when they passed by a fisherman playing a shamisen on his boat. All his life, Deemo was told that being a musician was for servants and beggars and that he should simply hire players if he wished for music. It was truly “love at first note” as Deemo was entranced by the old man’s skill and speed at the shamisen and how he crafted such melody from a relatively simple instrument. From then on, Deemo would sneak out to the docks every couple of days to see the old man play until one day he worked up the courage and asked him if he could teach him how to play the shamisen. The old man agreed and would teach him whenever Deemo could visit, in the mean time he gave Deemo an old shamisen for him to practice in secret. His brothers quickly caught on to his secret learning/playing but kept his secret, warning him of the consequences if their parents ever found out.

Time passed and when Deemo turned 18, he was informed by his parents that he would be attending the university and gave him the freedom to pick his own major, a luxury that would not be afforded to his older brother. Deemo informed his parents that he would go to the Bard’s College and learn the ways of Eloquence as a way to use the ways of diplomacy and debate as a way to contribute to the family. His family found this acceptable and told him they would support him while he studied at university.

What his parents didn’t know was that at the last minute, Deemo would switch his major to Lore as that would allow him to keep his shamisen and learn the powers of magic and music and how they could shape the world.
